Mrs. DuBose-Li holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas (2003) and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Towson University (2010). She has completed her Level 1 Orff certification at George Mason University and has studied conducting at the graduate level with Doreen Rao and Rodney Eichenberger. Mrs. DuBose-Li has presented sessions at Maryland Music Educators Association and American Choral Directors Association conferences and is an active member of both organizations She teaches general and choral music to approximately the 390 students who attend Candlewood Elementary School, in Derwood. For the last four years Mrs. DuBose-Li has directed the South-East section of MCPS All-County Fifth Grade Honor’s Chorus, a 200 voiced group of select fifth graders from the south-eastern third of the county. This is her ninth year teaching in MCPS.
Mrs. DuBose-Li developed her love of singing with Frederick Children’s Chorus (FCC), singing with the group for 11 years as a student. Returning to the group as a teacher, Ms. DuBose has served FCC since 2004 in various roles including Assistant Director of the chorus and Director of the Summer Camps, Musicianship and Little Music Makers programs. She also worked with the All Children’s Chorus of Annapolis (ACCA) as Assistant Director for five years. She recently resigned from ACCA and cut back responsibilities at FCC to welcome her first child. She is most appreciative of her husband’s support, allowing her to keep up with all of her musical extracurricular activities. Mrs. DuBose-Li enjoys researching and teaching repertoire from cultures around the world and new repertoire from her many composer friends here in the U.S. She works hard to open her students’ ears, minds, and hearts through her exciting and diverse choices in repertoire.
