Clayborn Price, Student Memberships
Dr. Clay Price is in his fifth year as Director of Choral Studies at Loyola University Maryland, where he conducts the Loyola Singers and the Repertory Choir and teaches courses in ear training, coordinates applied music studies, and works with the Music at Loyola Concert Series.
Prior to coming to Loyola, he served as Director of Choral Activities at the State University of New York at Oswego and as the Director of Choral Studies at the University of Rio Grande, in Rio Grande, Ohio, where he directed choirs and taught courses in music history, music theory, aural skills, music pedagogy, and conducting. Additionally, he taught middle and high school chorus for seven years in Charlotte and Lumberton, North Carolina, respectively. Dr. Price holds a Bachelor of Music in music education from Belmont University, a Master of Music degree in conducting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from the University of South Carolina, with a minor in music history.
Dr. Price is an active clinician, and is a member of the American Choral Directors’ Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Pi Kappa Lambda. When not doing things of a musical sort, he enjoys books on church history, movies with an interesting plot, cooking, opportunities to quote lines from The Princess Bride, and a good peanut butter sandwich.
